Motorcycling in the Himalayas

Motorcycling in the Himalayas

I was eighteen when I first learnt how to ride a motorcycle, that exhilarating feeling had me hooked ever since as I figured this was another great way to explore my country with unrestrained freedom.

In 2005, that craving for riding across our mountainsides also inspired me on an expedition to ride through every major highway in Bhutan and every major settlement on a motorcycle. A childhood buddy and myself rode Kawasaki’s and clocked 2300 kms over the course of the 11 days. It was a sensational experience to see the entire country on the saddle of a motor cycle.

The knees in the breeze, heightened senses, roar of the engine, shifting scenery, the in-control-feel and the wind behind our backs is a great way to enjoy the picturesque landscape, negotiate the mountainsides, ascend our lofty mountain passes and inhale that pure himalayan pine scented breeze. Over the years, we have accompanied many riders from overseas and they tell us that the minimal traffic, disciplined motorists, awe inspiring scenery and the open roads offer the ideal conditions for enjoying motorcycle tours in Bhutan.

I love being on the road on my Royal Enfield, with or without my friends.

PS. We maintain a small fleet of Royal Enfield’s and we suggest you book early with us should you like to adventure in our part of the Himalayas and see the country through the handlebars of a motorcycle.
