Bhutan is ensconced in the Himalayas therefore the altitudinal range, global climate change as well as local meteorological conditions influences the weather pattern, however each season has its attributes making travel a delightful experience throughout the year. Bhutan has four distinct seasons with each season having its own attribute and charm. Our small country is an year-round destination therefore it is entirely up to you to decide on your travel period that befits your schedule and convenience.

Spring (March, April and May)

The spring season is refreshing as the floral canvas of the landscape will be in its glory, the landscape also rebounds back from its winter reverie.  Flowers such as rhododendrons, primulas, wild azaleas and edelweiss carpet the meadows and enhances the natural palette of colors. 

Summer (June, July and August)

This is the green season as flowers will be in full bloom while valleys, mountains and agricultural lands will be green. Summer is also the season for fresh organic fruits and veggies. Summers in our mountain kingdom is ambient and conducive for all sorts of outdoor activities. 

Autumn (September, October and November)

This is the time when the landscape undergoes the metamorphosis into golden hues. The season is also the rice harvesting season and offers visitors close encounters to observe the activities in the farmlands. Autumn season is also popular for various festivals that is held either just prior to the harvest season or post harvest.

Winter (December, January & February)

Winter has its moments. The days are full of sunshine while evenings can turn chilly. The winter season in Bhutan also offers some of the best light for photography, the clear azure skies offers the best possible panorama of the snowcapped Himalayan mountain ranges.
